Three Wives’ Tales is a work of historical fiction, oral history, and personal memoir. Based on years of research and the collection of countless family stories, the novel was conceived by the author as a tribute to his grandmothers and mother. Some of the stories are true. Some are remembered to be true, which isn’t necessarily the same thing. Others were invented by the author to advance the narrative and (hopefully) engage the reader.
The novel won the 2020 Basque Writing Contest sponsored by the University of Nevada, Reno Center for Basque Studies.
